We Need Your Help!
Once again, the forces of nature have savaged the Garden you so greatly love and enjoy. The recent November nor’easter storm has left a swath of downed trees in its wake. The area around Mirror Lake and Enchanted Forest are completely closed and there are many other large, fallen trees throughout the core areas of the Garden. We have included some photos that give only a small indication of the size and number of trees lost.

There are obviously considerable costs associated with the labor and equipment required to clean up the damage, and the replacement costs associated with replanting. These are non-budgeted necessities just to continue operating the Garden and to bring it to a level that you can once again enjoy. Our bare-bones budget was already stretched very thin before this crisis. It is unclear how much this storm will cost us once our work is done, but these non-budgeted expenses will exceed many thousands of dollars. So we ask that you consider providing financial assistance to help the Garden pay for this clean up and replanting. Below are ways you can help. A tax-deductible donation of any size is greatly appreciated.
On the bright side, despite the storm damage, our 15th annual Garden of Lights holiday display will open this Friday, November 20th to Garden Members only, for a special weekend preview. If you are not a member of the Garden, don’t miss this family holiday tradition beginning Thanksgiving Day and running through January 3, 2010.
Sincerely,
Donald R. Buma
Executive Director
