Norfolk Botanical Garden offers an internship program that provides job training and job-readiness skills. Launched in September 2003, the Arborist Training Program provides vocational training, educational classes and counseling.
Project Purpose: This program focuses on the goal: To improve the involvement of minority and underserved populations in the development and delivery of urban and community programs and improve services to minority and underserved populations.
The Arborist Training Program is a 15-week program; up to three sessions may be held in a calendar year. Acceptance into the program is based on a job interview, written essay, demonstrated interest in the program and a positive work ethic.
